You can view it with any web browser. From the supplier: Newsprint prices fell in spring 1996 after nearly doubling between 1994 and 1996. Prices may fall to $625 per metric ton by Sep 1996, providing a financial boon to newspapers that had budgeted for $800 per metric ton. The newsprint crisis had caused some papers to close and others to shrink the size of their editions. Papers plan to use the savings from falling prices to improve their finances and invest in new media rather than to expand their news pages. There is little chance that papers will reopen and reporters will be rehired.Citation DetailsTitle: At last, good news about newsprint prices.(drop in newsprint prices)Author: Kelly HeyboerPublication: American Journalism Review (Refereed)Date: July 1, 1996Publisher: University of MarylandVolume: v18 Issue: n6 Page: p12(2)Distributed by Thomson Gale
